One-man Show for Hells Kitchen Artist

In a garret nestled between 10th and 11th Avenue on 50th Street resides Hells Kitchen artist, Edward B. Snyder (ebs). For over 12 years, while busy painting, Mr. Snyder has been exhibiting his work in area bars, restaurants, banks, hotel lobbies and now galleries. Mr. Snyder’s work can be described as “naďve-primitive.” Vibrant colors with bold lines are his stylistic signature, and his animal portraitures are his most acclaimed work. Late 1999 to early 2000, Mr. Snyder gained some notoriety when he baked and packaged batches of his mother’s brownie recipe with a label displaying the image of one of his elephant paintings. These edibles were dubiously called “Elephant Dung Brownies” – in deference to the flap between the then mayor, Rudolf Guilliani, and the Brooklyn Museum concerning an exhibit that featured a rendering of the Virgin Mary perched on mounds of elephant dung. In May 2000, Mr. Snyder was featured in the Clinton Chronicle for his small part in that affair. Edward B, Snyder (ebs) is now proud to present his collection of animal portraiture in an installation called “Neddie’s Animal Tales” showing at Jadite Gallery - 662 10th Avenue between 46th and 47th Street - opening February 3rd, 2005 for a two week engagement. Also, Mr. Snyder’s work can be found on the World Wide Web at http://www.ebsnyder.com/. Click here and here for two examples of Mr. Snyder's work.
